Spanish for Beginners: Spanish Crash Course (Conversational) Course Description

If you're a beginner and want to learn Spanish, you've come to the right place! Bienbeni too!! (Welcome!!)

Did you know that there are more native Spanish speakers than English speakers in the world? You might have thought it would be the other way around. But it is not. In fact, Spanish is second only to Chinese.

We have designed this Spanish short intensive course udemy for beginners to give you a solid foundation in Spanish. Simple, short, practical and very easy. And best of all, you will learn the best way, the natural way, the way you learned English. We will explain more about this in the course introduction. But for now, let me just say that there is only one way to speak Spanish naturally. I will teach you that way.

This course is 100% interactive. I'm not going to cover grammar rules, reading, etc. Nothing boring, just fun stuff. Everything you need to get started. You can speak, speak, and converse.

__________

Spanish for beginners starts with

Hello.

Introduction.

Words and phrases for travel.

Day of the week.

The month of the year.

And more...

__________

Introduction to the instructor: I was born in Bogota, the capital of Colombia (South America). So, although I am a native Spanish speaker, you may consider me a native English speaker. I have lived in the USA, Mexico and Colombia and currently live in Australia. And I've always been really passionate about languages, especially English and Spanish.

Accent of this course: My Spanish accent is from Colombia (South America). In English I'd say it's a strange mix of America, Australia and Latin America. But don't worry too much about the accent. Overrated. And whether you're learning Spanish from a Spanish or a Latin American, you're likely to have a Spanish-speaking foreigner's accent. But it doesn't matter!! People will still understand you. Because when I travel around the world they understand me in Spanish and English, even if I have a "strange" accent. :)

If you are concerned about your accent, you should know the following: Of all Spanish-speaking countries, the two most "neutral" Spanish-speaking countries are Colombia and Costa Rica. Therefore, many call center companies prefer candidates for these two positions. So learning from a Colombian accent teacher is definitely an advantage.

Story

My passion for entrepreneurship, technology and education began at a young age. By the time I was 15, I had already started three businesses. It was candy commercialization at school, newspaper recycling in our community, car wash for family and friends. I also came to the United States from Colombia (South America) and experienced firsthand American culture that I have always been curious about. When I was in my 20s, I moved to a knowledge-based business to teach English. And the rest they say is history. I am married, self-taught investor, started trading stocks in the US, Australia and Colombia markets, traveled the world and moved to Australia, completed 2 MBAs and started all of the startups listed below. She speaks three languages (English, Spanish and Portuguese), has visited more than 60 cities in 10 countries on four continents, and has lived in Colombia, Mexico, USA and Australia (my home).

Adventurer

When I think of what I've done in my life, I always conclude that even though I've done a lot, I still have a lot to do and explore. But we're happy with what we've done so far, so we wanted to share some of those unique adventures with you all. The moments I cherish in my heart will always be a part of who I am and what I am. I also feel grateful, blessed, and lucky for all these experiences because I know that not everyone has the opportunity to experience some of these experiences firsthand.

1) Climbing the Great Wall of China. The climb wasn't that difficult, but coming down was a real challenge. I could feel my knees trembling down from the small steps and the inclination and weight of my body. I had to stop a few times to catch my breath, but I climbed up and down all the way to the end.

2) Crocodile hunting in New Orleans. You can see this by searching for "Mauricio Crocodile Hunter" on YouTube. I enjoyed this experience and probably took the unnecessary risk of losing my hand. But I had a lot of fun.

3) Swimming in the Mexican Subterranean River The water was crystal clear and there were branches everywhere, and it was a very unique experience. I liked it. It was a little scary at times, but overall I enjoyed it. The trees on the river were really nice...

4) Visit the Salt Cathedral in Colombia. This is a human wonder. Entire cathedral built on salt mines, with salt Yes, salt! It was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life and that day I was so proud of being a Colombian and the amazing things Colombia has to offer to the world. You should watch "Colombia Wild Magic" on Netflix for more on this.

5) I saw the Opera House and Harbor Bridge for the first time in Sydney, Australia. You don't know how excited I am today. It was almost unbelievable that I was there and I could feel my body trembling with excitement. For a moment I thought I was going to cry and almost cried. You can experience the true power of Australia when you are in Sydney.

6) Climbing the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The view of the whole of Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower was also wonderful. But it was better to visit the Louvre, the Sacred Heart and the Arc de Triomphe while sipping wine with friends on the bridge. All amazing experiences. France is a very unique country and their contribution to humanity is very important.

7) Driving 20 and 40 ton $500,000 excavators in North Dakota near the Canadian border. Oh this was so much fun. I went back to when I was 5 years old playing in the sand with my friends and cheaper toys. It was awesome to buy back with those huge, expensive toys when I was older and fortunately I didn't break these bad boys.

8) In Brazil, putting one foot in the sea and the other in the river at the same time. This South American country is rich in culture, great music, delicious food, friendly people, and beautiful views. It wasn't until I came to Brazil that I never thought I could be in the river and the sea at the same time. It's definitely memorable. Some of the best fish of my life I ate in Brazil. It melted in my mouth and it was so good.

9) Climbing the Sun and Moon Pyramids in Mexico. Everything looked so small from up there... And I will never forget it because I felt so much peace at the top of these places. Despite its violent international reputation, Mexico is probably one of my favorite places on earth. Great culture, amazing food, nice people and very lively. There's always something going on in Mexico.

10) Snowboarding and Rafting in Aspen Aspen is one of the best ski resorts in the world and has an international reputation. Aspen's views and mountains make you feel like you're in a postcard. It is so beautiful and unique. You have to see it for yourself to fully understand.

11) Eat ants and frogs with the locals. Yes I did, but I will never do it again. Of course, these aren't the typical ants or frogs you see around. Both are 'specialties' and breeds of ants and frogs from where I've eaten and honestly not that bad (the ants were roasted and tasted a bit nutty and the frogs tasted a bit like chicken). I said I would never do it again. Of course, it does not offend the locals. :)

12) Visit to Potsdam, Germany. It was once home to kings and queens and is truly unique in Germany. It should be noted that out of all the countries I have been to, Germany is one of the top 3 places I want to go. I like it. such a nice place. It's really organized, clean, safe, green and cultural. It is a country with a lot of history. Unfortunately, there is also a really dark history as we all know, but let's not go there.

13) Petting a kangaroo in Cleland, South Australia. This was my first big encounter with a kangaroo. I could pet and feed them and it was magical. Cleland is a really cool place. Australia's hidden gem and a must-see if you're in Adelaide. I have never eaten kangaroo meat and will not eat it after this experience. It would be like eating a rabbit, but I couldn't do it.

Migration

My wife and I arrived in Australia on 25 April 2014 Anzac Day. April 25th is a special day for Australians around the world, and it is now special for us because of its history and what it means not only as a nation, but also as a family. It is the day we arrived in Australia and future generations of our family will continue to celebrate and celebrate this day like any other Australian. And so as a family because of its special meaning within our family.

We arrived in Australia with four bags, some money in the bank, no jobs, no friends or family, nothing. It was difficult. And tested us several times, but we did it. Partly because my wife was too strong in the beginning. The beginning was really hard for me. For the first six months, I asked myself whether we had made the right decision and whether we could endure being away from our family and friends in Colombia. Sometimes I felt that I was not strong enough even though I thought I was always ready to leave the country and already lived in another country. This time it was different. I can't really explain it, but this time I knew I wasn't coming back, and the feeling at first haunted me badly as I was adjusting to a new country, a new culture, and a new city.

At the beginning my wife and I were in survival mode. So we walked around (we didn't have a car at the time) without spending unnecessary money, sharing meals and juices. We also lived in a very small apartment. like really small. But we got it working and we did our best. I still remember the first time I was invited to play football in Australia. I didn't have football boots, and I didn't have a job I could afford but would not want to give. So this generous and kind man gave me his. And in the coming months, many others will show us kindness and generosity. People drove us, invited us to dinner, introduced us to others, and so on. And eventually we will find work in record time. This is rare among immigrants with no local experience.

In August 2019, my wife and I became Australian citizens. This is of course what we are really proud of and also what makes us very happy.
